For those of you that enjoy Evans Equipment but don’t know how we got our start, this story is for you!
The History of Evans Equipment, Inc.
Evans Equipment began in 1965 when Tom Evans, a former Caterpillar salesman, and his business partners founded a small operation dedicated to buying and rebuilding used heavy machinery. From the very beginning, the focus was on quality — machines were stripped down to their bare frames and rebuilt piece by piece until they performed like new. What started as a modest shop quickly earned a reputation for dependable workmanship and a deep understanding of heavy equipment. Tom’s sons Bryce and Brad Evans started working at the company in 1975 between school. In 1980 they joined the company full-time bringing new energy and helping to expand the company’s operations. As the business grew, Brad and Bryce eventually bought out Tom’s partner, and in 1983 the company was officially incorporated as Evans Equipment, Inc. That decade marked a major turning point when Evans Equipment began selling machines internationally. Their first overseas transaction came in 1980, and it set the stage for the company’s long-standing global presence in the used and rebuilt equipment market.
Over the years, Evans Equipment became known for its expertise in Caterpillar machinery — especially dozers, scrapers, loaders, motor graders, and off-highway trucks. Rather than simply reselling used equipment, the company perfected the process of fully rebuilding machines to like-new condition, offering customers top-quality performance at a fraction of the cost of new equipment. Each rebuild is done at the company’s facility in Concordia, Missouri, where nearly every component is inspected, repaired, or replaced to ensure reliability. By maintaining this rigorous standard, Evans Equipment built trust with customers across the United States and around the world. The company has shipped rebuilt machines to dozens of countries, serving clients in industries such as mining, construction, quarries, and infrastructure development. Their commitment to quality and integrity has remained unchanged since the first day the doors opened. Now, more than half a century after its founding, Evans Equipment continues to operate as a family-run business led by the Evans family. Tom Evans passed away in 2019. Since then, Brad and Bryce brought the third generation into the business. Both have a son, Mac Evans and Logan Evans who as their fathers did, are bringing new energy and ideas into the company. The company’s guiding principle — that only first-class work is acceptable — remains at the heart of its success. From a small Missouri shop to a globally recognized name in rebuilt heavy equipment, Evans Equipment stands as a testament to craftsmanship, honesty, and long-term relationships built over decades of hard work.
